IntroducingShannon EnglandShannon England was raised in Adairsville, Georgia, a small, country town in the northwest area of the state. He refers to himself as an athletic, band-geek because he's always loved participating in sports, but he also played the trumpet in the Adairsville band for eight years and performed in several drama productions. After graduating high school, he studied Drama, Music and Physical Education at the University of Georgia from 1994-2000. Shannon traveled all across the country with the Lady Bulldog basketball team, as a manager and practice player. One of the cities visited was Nashville where he eagerly attended a Grand Ole Opry show at the historic Ryman Auditorium. "I was blown away by all of it," Shannon said, even the older guys with the sequined jackets! I already loved music and writing lyrics at that point, but I realized I wanted to be doing what they were doing and loving it like they were loving it!
Shannon began writing songs in 1996 and has written songs in all genres of music. Desperately needing some musical accompaniment, he eventually taught himself to play guitar. While working a full-time career selling Verizon Wireless, Shannon has spent his nights writing and playing as much as possible. "I just sit around and write, " He said, the Blue Bird Cafe a Nashville Songwriters Show) always inspires me. I watch it on TV and I've been there and seen the most laid back, country people you could find play a #1 song they wrote for a big star. People don't always realize that the artists rarely write their hits by themselves. They usually get the song from a publishing company or at least co-write with a great writer. It takes both a great writer for lyrics and a great artist to interpret the song so that it's appealing.
Shannon says he loves to sing and be in the spotlight. However, his true passion is writing and creating the songs. In April of 2003, Shannon was introduced to a producer, Max Archer from Dallas, Texas. Max worked with Shannon on the business side of songwriting and helped him complete his first demo CD, featuring twelve original songs. The songs chosen for his first demo have more of a country, ballad feel. They show his style of writing heartfelt songs expressing emotions that everyone has experienced or will experience at some point in life. He has since written many songs he says are more radio ready. I am writing more divers lyrics now, but I will continue to write slow ballads, Shannon said, I can't help it. That's what comes out of me when I pick up my guitar and play a chord and think about my life. I've learned so much in the last couple of years about what's appealing to the world ..TRUTH! Something that sounds good and speaks the truth has a chance of making it, and that's all I'm asking for a chance.
